Someone killed his pigeon when he was little it was the first thing he loved and he fought the kid over it. After that he knew that he was really good at it then he went on to be one of the most feared boxers of all-time.
This goes along with the play because Walter turns the other cheek against Mr. Willie Harris and doesn't go looking for him. Mama also ruffs up Walter alittle but after that she forgives them but it shows him that he screwed up so that is one point where it was better not to. There are many examples in the story of this and in life there are many more.
